Jessica's Baby Shower

Date: April 2011
Event: Baby Shower
Host: Family of the Expecting Mother
Desserts: Le Bousi Boo Pastry

I went to a baby shower a few weeks ago, and the setup was ADORABLE!  I thought I was walking into a small wedding; given that the "aunt", of the soon-to-be baby Isabella, owns a rental company.  So they had the resources for the tables, chairs, and linens.

The decor was so cute.  Hanging on the patio cover with black, pink and white paper lanterns (not sure if these ones were lanters, but the shower was during the day so it didn't matter).  On the tables were floral centerpieces, with personalized votive candles and candy bars (which were gifts that the guest could take home).  The candy bar wrappers could be found http://www.bigdotofhappiness.com/ (which I personally have ordered TONS from).

They also had a very cute dessert table displayed; which included a small cake, cupcakes, cake pops, rice krispy treats, and a few different types of candy.  But yet again, the set-up/display... ADORABLE!!

Bachelorette/Lingerie Party Invitations!

Last summer, I was planning on making handmade Bachelorette Party invites.  Doing a little research, wanting to tie in the "Vegas" theme, as well as the "Lingerie" theme... I came across 2 different invites that I absolutely fell in love with which could also be easy to make!

Bra & Panty Lingerie Invite (found on Etsy)

Corset Invite (found on Etsy, but the link is no longer available)

But... what I ended up actually making was nothing close to these two favorites!

The invitation was just a 2-sided invite.  What I used/bought (everything was bought at Michael's):
Invite Package (Silver card stock/glossy paper with matching envelopes)
Pink & Blue Scrapbook paper
Glitter stick-on letters (scrapbooking aisle)
Martini & Vegas scrapbooking stickers
Silver Glitter pieces actually made for corners

The poem read:

It’s time for us girls to mix & mingle,
These are Lauren’s last weeks of being single!

Time is ticking & the bells will soon chime,
Let’s get crazy while there is still time!

Mark your calendars and pack your gear,
Before you know it August 27th will be here!

One final weekend in Vegas is left to be had,
We’ll leave Friday morning & that night - celebrate bad!

Saturday we’ll be laying out by the pool all day,
We’ll hit the town for another night to play!

Girls, get ready for a crazy weekend of laughs,
As we celebrate Lauren’s Bachelorette Bash!

We’re having pre-parties before we go out,
Bring your favorite liquor – so we’ll never be without!

Juices will be provided by the hosts of the weekend,
Ashley & Val are both driving - hope you all can attend!

$60 from each girl will be collected for the room - later we’ll figure out gas
If you want to bring a gift, bring lingerie for the brides’ sexy ass!

Lingerie size ranges from --; her cup size is a ---,
Departing early Friday, returning sometime Sunday – we shall see.

New Save the Date Trends

Okay, so I'm on "Project Wedding"'s email list, and they email me a couple times a week with everything from  makeup tips, to DIY centerpieces, to the "hottest" colors, etc. (the list can go on!).  In an email they sent this week, they had a link to "New Save the Date Trends".  My sister's wedding is in October, and she's currently looking for Save the Date options, so I quickly clicked on the link to see what this "new trend" was all about.  I fell in LOVE with this idea!! I visited the creator's website, and read that these are bunch of still photographs, and NOT a video clip! Crazy right?!? The creator's website is stated after each video, if you want to visit.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Dessert - Mini Pineapple Upside Down Cakes

Event: Clara's (Grandma Tutu) 80th Birthday Luau
Date: 2010
Cakes Made by: Valerie Featherstun

I was asked to make 50 mini pineapple upside down cakes.  The first batch was of course testing them out (the tops stuck to the pan... but they sure were yummy!) and realizing how much I had to spray the pans so they came out PERFECT!

Panty Poem:
Each girl was given a verse or 2 to read, and each one handed her a different kind of panty (which is listed with the verse it goes with)

The bridesmaids have a poem to share
For the guests and our little bride
We all thought we’d buy her new underwear
And now, she can’t run and hide.

So for our special panty queen
We'll make her feel just fine
By working as a friendly team
To form a panty line.

Lauren these undies are to last you
All throughout your life
And John will be pleased to say
He has a sexy wife!

So listen up to hear about
Your lifelong panty plan
These underwear, we have no doubt
Will last your whole life span

The first are for your wedding day  (Bridal white panties for first night)
Of course they are pure white
We know John will shout, "Hooray!"
When he sees you on that night

The next are for your honeymoon  (Sexy lace panties for the honeymoon)
They're sexy and all lace
We hope you'll leave your hotel room
'Cause Maui's a gorgeous place!

On Valentine's you'll wear this (Red for Valentine's day)
Before you hit the bed
Cuz Cupid's arrow in the air
Shoots tushies that are red

After a year has passed you'll face (Animal print  for the 1st anniversary)
Anniversary number one
With these you'll surely have a blast
'Cuz leopard's so much fun!

Then when the time is right for you (A pink AND a blue pair for baby)
And don't be saying, "Maybe"
You'll wear your little pink or blue
In honor of your second baby

And when your years of wedding bliss (A sexy full cut pair for 25 years)
Become the big 2-5
Don't worry - you'll just slip this on
To keep the sparks alive

When finally you're old and gray  (A giant pair of bloomers or granny panties)With these you can't go wrong
'Cuz sorry Lauren but at that age
You just can't wear a thong

Left/Right Game:
The words "italicized" is what you fill in to fit your bride/groom.

Lauren knew RIGHT away that she had found Mr. RIGHT and the RIGHT date was set. Now seemed to be the RIGHT time to start, so she LEFT RIGHT after lunch and went RIGHT to her mother's house. She knew she needed to get started RIGHT away to make sure nothing was LEFT undone.

With 62 days until the wedding day, there was little time LEFT to spare and so much LEFT to do. She asked her mother to write down an address list and she LEFT to find the RIGHT invitations. On her way, she LEFT a message at the florist and then RIGHT to the bridal shop she ran.

RIGHT in the window was the perfect dress. Oh no, I LEFT my checkbook RIGHT in the car. Hold that dress, I'll be RIGHT back. With that done, she called Mr. RIGHT and LEFT him a message to call her RIGHT back. She LEFT to meet the florist who had LEFT her a message that they had the RIGHT flowers for her.

Mr. RIGHT called her RIGHT back and said he LEFT a message for the preacher to call him RIGHT back and that he had just LEFT work and would be RIGHT over.

She LEFT the florist and ran RIGHT over to meet Mr RIGHT. RIGHT away they discussed what was LEFT to do. Who would be the RIGHT best man? She LEFT that up to Mr RIGHT. I'll get the RIGHT maid of Honor.

RIGHT away they started shopping for the RIGHT rings. With that done, the next stop was to order the RIGHT cake. Mr. RIGHT could clearly see his future, Mrs. RIGHT was on the RIGHT track.

After a long day, all that was LEFT to do was get RIGHT home to see if any messages were LEFT while they were out. "Lets call it a day". "Whatever is LEFT to do, can be LEFT until tomorrow.  With a kiss, he LEFT and she went RIGHT to bed.
